The first stone building could be seen in 1871. Three years later it was swept away in an avalanche but in 1878, in support of Stary and Novy Smokovec, the new wooden provisional building near Velicke pleso was build. In 1892 Karpatian association began to build alpine house that was brought into the open three years later. It contained ten rooms with twenty-two beds and two large rooms with thirty beds in each one.
Sliezsky dom is highly situated chalet and it has the highest position of all Slovak hotels. Sliezsky dom has an advantageous geographic location - it is placed in Velicka dolina in the High Tatras (1670 m. above sea level). The chalet and its surrounding offer a breathtaking view on the High and Low Tatras. Majestic mountain ranges, mountain-tops and beautiful scenery can be seen here. There is warm welcome here for all who come in search of relaxation and recreation.
The biggest allurement is "Gerlachovsky stit" - the biggest mountain (2655 m. elevation a.s.l.) in Slovakia. But not only Gerlachovsky stit is attractive, nearby is Tatranska magistrala, Popradske pleso (Poprad's tarn), Velicka dolina (Velicka valley), Gulaty kopec, Poľský hrebeň (Polish range) or Vychodna Vysoka (mountain Vychodna Vysoka)...
You can get to the chalet from Tatranska Polianka and it is about 7 km long way. In summer season we offer bus transport to/from Tatranska Polianka and in winter season our guests can be transported by snowmobile Kässbohrer.
ROOMS (max. for 6 person):
The rooms are furnished in a simple way. There are a small entrance hall with a washbasin, room with two beds (there are double decker beds in a tourist's part), table and seats. Always two and two rooms are sharing a communal shower. There are communal toilets on the passage. It is heated there and warm water flows only in the evening.
